Here are some tips to help make living in the hurricane zone as safe as you can for you and your family.

First of all, have a plan for both major and minor hurricane evacuation. Most time evacuation is not your choice. When the weather says to leave, it is not a suggestion.

For a Minor Hurricane the following areas must evacuate:

All coastal barrier islands
All mobile homes
All properties within one block of coastal/tidal water
All areas prone to flooding

In Jupiter:

East of Pennock Rd.
North of Toney Penna Rd.
East of Military Trail
North of Indian Creek Pkwy

In Boynton Beach:

All area east of Federal Hwy

For a major Hurricane evacuation add these areas to the minor evacuation:

All areas east of US Highway 1 within the city limits:

Gulfstream
Hypoluxo
Lake Park
Riviera Beach
West Palm Beach-North of 36th St.

All areas east of Dixie Hwy within the city limits:

All areas east of Olive Ave and Federal Hwy within the city limits:
